Well, EDTA is particularly effective at sequestering heavy metals and it is the simplest structure that can provide that kind of action. As one of the websites points out, the word chelate (pronounced like key-late) was made up from the Greek word for claw. The EDTA molecule acts like a claw grasping the metal atom. It has six points of attachment and has the proper geometry to bind to the six available sites on most heavy metal atoms. I have heard that some believe that there is a gradual accumulation of heavy metals in the blood and that an occasional dosing with EDTA can help to keep this down to a dull roar. I have never heard any convincing argument that this sort of treatment would help with the artery clogging problems that we face but I haven't really looked into it deeply. You speak of two chemicals. What is the other one? EDTA itself stands for the free acid form, but it is available as many different salts of sodium, potassium, calcium, or mixtures of these and probably other elements as well. regards, Bob S. Sorry, I have never heard that term. It gave only one hit on Google and that one just referred to it as a hormone replacement. regards, Bob S. On May 2, 2005, at 5:30 AM, TOMMY GOODPASTURE wrote: I think it was called primpril??? or are they one and the same?? Hobo
