Swollen breast
I had my quad bypass 6 weeks ago. I am 48 years old. The main problems I'm having is that my left breast is swollen and hurts. I've mentioned it to my doc and at cardio rehab. They don't have any answers. Has anyone else had this problem??
Yes, I vaguely recall having had that problem. I'm a year post-op and so much has happened since that I have trouble remembering all the details. It went away, is all I can tell you. The reason the docs, etc., aren't more helpful is that, IMO, they don't know much about women and heart disease, much less post-surgical symptoms of women who have had CABG. If you get a feeling that something seriously isn't right, just make sure you raise h*ll until your doc, figures out the cause. Not saying this is serious -- for me, it was just a post-op "symptom" (for lack of a better word). But when serious things were happening, if I'd listened to the first half-dozen cardiologists I talked to and were tested by, I'd be dead now. Sometimes it's hard to get the docs to pay attention, simply because I am a woman, I think. My serious symptoms were greeted with your basic "pat-on-the-head, you are worried for nothing, this is caused by the stress of having so many young children, hire some help". So pay attention to your gut feelings. Take care, Aileen
Hi, all. My husband (MI 4xCABG in 4/02) takes both Acetyl-L Carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid, after reading a Reader's Digest article on the benefits of these supplements. One thing to be aware of is that there is a difference between Acetyl-L Carnitine, recommended in the article, and L-Carnitine, which is usually much cheaper. So you may want to do a little more research if you're interested in these. Marcella
