STILL HAVE SORENESS ETC

HI Toni! I had bypass surgery in Oct. 2002 and still have chest pain and have pain in my shoulders and back. If I sneeze it really hurts my chest. Taking a deep breath hurts also or coughing. My doctor says it might not go away. Might have to take pain medication for it from now on. I take advil and then it often gives me stomach pain so its hard to know what to do. If I don't take anything, then I wake up about 2a.m. with pain. I am 61 and feel now than before the surgery. Guess I just don't appreciate the fact that I am still here. I had six blockages and 4 bypasses as two arteries had two blockages each and were bypassed with on piece of the leg vein. Good luck and let me know if you find something that works for the pain. I do exercise 4 or 5 times a week and use weights about once a week. Ann

Vicoprofen is just another Codeine/Ibuprofen mix. And yes, 7.5mg of hydrocodone (codeine/opium/heroin/morphine) is nice. The main disadvantage is a quick tolerance effect - i.e., you must wait a couple days between doses to get the same effect. Second disadvantage is the pleasure effect - for that first hour, as far as you're concerned there is absolutely *nothing* wrong with you or the world, and that's a _very_ psychologically addictive feeling. They're also hard to come by over here. All I can ever get prescribed is the 5mg mixtures. For pain I've been angling more towards Naproxen these days. Cheap, with 2 OTC tablets the equivalent of a prescription dose, and a bit longer lasting (supposedly 6 hours).

Chuck, thanks for the info on the pain med. Does it have a deleterious effect on liver enzymes or the kidneys? Chris << Chuck: I'm going to suggest a pain med that works for me. I have a sever back injury from years back, and I found this only a few weeks before my Heart problem. The combination of these two meds works wonders for me and sure got me through the recovery period with very little pain. I only take one now when needed, mostly for my back and it seems to last all day. VICOPROFEN 7.5/200 TAB Ask your doctor about it. I hope it helps. Chuck 7 Months and counting
