Stent Closure

I recently had my 4th stent put in my LM artery (1/23/02). I was having severe shortness of breath (probably some of you remember me). As of the beginning of this week, the shortness of breath is starting to return. Its not that bad yet, but enough to notice. I pretty much had no S.O.B. prior to this week. No chest pains whatsoever. Has anyone had a stent close up on them?? If so, what were the symptoms and how long did it take to close after it was put in?

If so, what were the symptoms and how long did it take to close after it was put in? Just returned from 5 weeks in Florida and I am late in reading e-mails. I had my RCA bypass graft stented in 99. Within 3 months experienced angina. Test showed graft had closed. This is restenosis and is common with angioplasty and stents. Generally if you get by first few months you will be OK. This is caused more by the procedure itself. I returned for a clinical trial which uses a small dose of radiation after stent placement. this worked for more than a year but eventually blocked also. In my case my angioplasty was considered challenging as it was done on a bypass graft. Here is a study going on about medicated stents that you may be interest you. Medicine-coated stent may limit artery re-clogging, repeat procedures Harry K

Valve Disease is another possible cause of shortness of breath, although it is usually a slow process. Have you been checked for aortic stenosis or other valve problems? AL
