sleep

Was never able to sleep with a migraine -- lowering my head in any fashion just made the pounding worse. I'd either sit up in my easy chair or, all too often, end up standing leaning against a door post... Ron

Tami, I wish to thank you. I have tried getting some extra sleep and don't you know I think it's working. I've been on a dead run for two weeks and my migraines are worse. So I told my self ok I am so tired I can hardly stand up. I'm going to bed early the next couple of nights and I am feeling better plus I have increased my meds. I seem to be doing better so whatever it is I feel better. Still have a ways to go but if it's that thanks. Pumpkie

Mine will go both ways lately so i feel like i have a catch 22 going on right now and having kids getting sick in the middle of the night isn't helping lately. melissa I've heard many people say they get relief from migraine pain when they sleep, but I usually find that sleep makes my headaches worse. Anyone else experience this? Regards, Crystal

If I don't take meds and go to sleep with even the hint of a migraine it'll be full blown when I wake. But after taking Imitrex.. sleeping, or at least slowing down helps increase the chance the drugs will kill the migraine. --M'ia

I have been diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and I find that when I wake up, for the first 5 minutes I am awake, I have no headache.. and then all of the sudden it sets in and is there for the day. It's not really a headache, it's more like an ACHE in the back of my neck. I know this isn't really following along the lines of your symptoms but they could be closely related to sleep apnea. I am having weight loss surgery next week hoping that will clear up the apnea and other things. For apnea I just made an appointment with a pulmonologist and he refered me to a sleep lab where I spent a weekend. :) ~Anje

Melissa- Well, he asked me a lot of questions about my sleep patterns. He did what basic dr's do, listen to you breathe, your heart, etc. Then he set up a day for me to go to the sleep lab. I spent a weekend Fri night and Sat night in the sleep lab. Going home in between. The first night was to find out if I have it. The second night is treatment night. It wasn't bad at all. All they do is hook you up to a bunch of machines while you sleep and watch you. The sleep lab I was at had cable TV, ceiling fan, nice big bed... plus they gave me ambien to sleep because I can't sleep under pressure. LOL They want ya in bed by 11, I'm a late nighter. Anyway, it was no biggie :) In the end I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. No surprise to me at all. Merry Christmas! Anje

headache diary and seems like I get a headache almost every single morning and about every 4 days I get one bad enough that doesn't go away that I have to take imitrex to get rid of. Most of the time Naproxen gets rid of the morning ones. Imitrex.. hmmm, I wonder if that will work for Complex Migraines. I'm not on anything for pain. My main problem lately has been annoying aura.
