Skin rash / reaction to meds?

Hi all, A quick intro. I am a 53 yr old male, British but living in Malaysia where I had my quintuple bypass last August. Overall I think my progress to date has been quite good, returning to my office job after 3 months and able to swim 2 lengths of the pool & walk on treadmill at a brisk pace for 20 mins without any negative symptoms. My question to you all is - I have been having some apparent problems with my medications 1st with bruising when on Plavix & Casprin so the doc took me off Plavix so I am currently only on Casprin & Lipitor. A week ago a small pin prick rash appeared an my legs and progressed to my arms as well. None on face or body. I went back to the hospital & apparently this is capilary bleeding which the consultant thought could be a reaction to either the Casprin or Lipitor so I was refered to the haematologist. He took a blood test & was concerned that my platelet count was too low. The test showed it was OK though. I am now waiting for the results from a more detailed blood test. Have any of you experienced anything like this? All views appreciated. Regards Keith - alive and KICKING!

Hi Keith, I also take plavax along with a big asprin and like 8 other pills, The brusing is normal with plavix and any asprin since i think both act like blood thinners, well plavix is ace inhibitor i think but u bruise with it. I dare not to bump into any thing hard or i get bruised bad. But, i never had any kind of a rash with any of my meds. They added another pill yesterday cause my BP was just to high, stayed in the 160's orver 99 to 108 or so. I hope you can find what is making you have the rash could be something like nerves. Before i got on xannax i was a mess. Good luck and God bless you and keep you well for a long time. oh sorry for my no caps or punchuation and spelling, i play a roleplaying game and not many of us use it and it gets to be habitual. Hi Keith, I developed a rash very early on to going on Plavix..so they had me quit after 5 days. However, over years now, it seems I'm also allergic to angiogram dye and get the same reaction so we're not sure on the Plavix. The cardio said he has seen many a Plavix rash. I get bruised more from capillary bleeding..from aspirin. I think some statins can cause rash also. Lor Hi all, A quick intro. Bogie, We found out definitely I have an allergy to the angio dye!! So, this last angio, they fed me either a steroid or Benedryl through the IV before the angio and it helped a lot. Still some rash and itching. The time I had two angio's in one week, my rash and itching covered my entire body..sounds like yours! The itching was that love to itch and the more it hurt...it took one month to go away with a steroid plus Vistaril (an antihistamine). Had scabs all over my body. Glad I'm not the only one on this! Lor I never had a prob with Plavx.....but THE DYE.....WOW. I had THE nasty-ist rash a few ppl have ever seen. I had the dye used a total of 8 times, in the 2 yrs before and after the bypass. Each time I had a rash on my legs, butt and wrists, that was the worst. I'm with LOR on this topic. Please and Thanx, Bogie
