sides

My migraines are almost all on the left, but they are cervicogenic in origin and that's the side with the pinched nerves, etc. Sometimes, when I've succeeded in killing a bad one, it will get back at me on the right. The cervicogenic nature of mine is why all those prophylactic meds don't work -- there's no chemical trigger, just a crunched neck from when I was 8. With age I can actually feel the pain start up the left side of my neck, dive just behind/below my ear (at the mastoid process, if that means anything to you) and surface at the left temple with all guns blazing. Imitrex only works on the throbbing enlarged blood vessel / spike-in-the-temple part of the migraine -- does nothing for all the other stuff that's involved (and caused it). There are some major places of research & treatment of cervicogenic headaches (not all migraines), but I don't have the bucks to go travel to any of them (yet). Depending on your own history, a cervical MRI is something that should seriously be considered. Ron (north-eastern PA mountains)
