Don't let your doc's fears or lack of information keep you from relief. Many folks have run into that propaganda-induced ignorant concept of narcotic meds as "evil". It's very simple: what works to return you to a normal life is what works. I've had docs who would not ever consider anything along those lines (soundly earning my "baseball bat upside the temple" nomination for learning some perspective); the doc I found who put me on routine prophylactic Tylenol#4 (containing that devil codeine) is the only one that, in 40 years, cured my condition. There are many non-opiate drugs that don't work &/or rot your stomach lining and kidneys and liver; then there are the naturally occurring opiates that are extremely well tolerated, do *not* make you "high" if the dose is correct, and work extremely well for relieving intractable pain. A doctor is like a garbage collector: you hire him/her/it to provide a service. If they do not provide service to your satisfaction, fire them and find one that will. Ron
You wrote: My migraine, right now, is pushing on my right eye. As though it were being pushed out of its socket. I've had migraines for many, many years. But in the past year, I started getting the eye pain, too. It can happen in either eye. But it will be the same side as the temple that is pounding. The only thing I have found to help the pain is to put an ice pack over the eye and temple. I don't know if it helps in any physical way to reduce the headache...but it numbs the area. I think the eye pressure pain is some of the worst of the headaches I've had lately. You're not alone. Take heart. Jan B.
