In the time I've been here I've only noticed myself mentioning it, so apparently not. But yes, I've had it bad ever since my 3X CABG. Gets worst before lunch, then rarely again during the day. Cardio took another ultrasound of my carotid but said it didn't sound bad and he had no further ideas. I'm just kind of learning to live with it.

But today as he stood up a few times he started getting light headed. Is this common? Is he taking medicine to reduce his blood pressure? If so, he is probably getting too much and his BP could be too low. Check with your dr.

My cardiologist actually said " when using drugs to lower one's blood pressure the maximum dosage to use is just under that level that makes the patient experience lightheadedness (sp) when standing up very fast". I have had other physicians concur on this theory too. Good luck! Chris

There are several possible causes for feeling faint such as Low Blood Pressure, Low Heart Rate, Heart Valve issues, Dehydration, etc. In the mean time, he should first sit up, then stand up slowly, then move about, allowing his body to adjust between each change in possition. As I said earlier - I did ask my cardio about it and he did some tests but couldn't find anything. I have a blood pressure cuff and note nothing unusual at these times. I also have a blood sugar monitor and ditto - nothing unusual. Aside from one day about 4 weeks post-op when I couldn't get around the mall with the wife, I've just learned to eat lunch when it starts to happen. Looks like it may just be something some people are going to have to live with.
Ed, why do you think supplements are better than prescription drugs. The supplements often do not have to tell you the side affects and some are pretty bad. Many of the vitamins that were originally thought to be helpful after testing have to have little or no benefit such as vitamin E and Niacin. Think we have to just hope our physicians know what they're doing when they prescribe medications for us. Ann
