Ann, your experience sounds very much like my mine.
hyper-extended for a long period of time
*For me, it was my right shoulder and upper arm. Something like
"trussed up and folded back like a turkey" was the explaination.
For the first three days, my arm was my biggest complaint.
Regarding diets, I have followed very similar guidelines to yours
with success.
and fish.
*My wife and I now eat large salads for a main course with
regularity. Chicken, salmon, oyster, etc. My diet actually melded
quite well with her LA Weightloss diet. With her doing that diet, it
was easy because BOTH of us were involved. Be careful on
salad dressings. There's a lot of excellent 2 gram ones available
now.
*Yes, this is quite good, except for stovetop cooking. I use olive
oil for that.
*Milk is one of the things I missed most. I found that dairy did
"something" to me, but I've switched to Almond Breeze milk and
love it. Almonds are beneficial anyway, and for me, it's MUCH
better than Soy Milk. I can't stand soy milk. UGH. I highly
recommend trying Kellogs Special K Almond Crunch with
Almond Milk at 2am.
*It's Banana Nut bread for us. I'll send or post our modified
recipe if desired.
*With all of these "great" dieticians giving us their advice, nobody
ever just came out and simply said SUGAR translates to
TRIGLYCERIDES. Once I quit eating all the sweets, and quit
drinking tons of juice, my triglycerides went from 450 to under
100.
*Different pizzas lend themselves to this, but I order pizza with no
cheese. (And no Pepperoni, which always seems to form an oil
slick). And people seem accomodating to make them. I order a
personal pizza, and everyone else gets what they want on a big
one.
*Not often, but when I do, I grill using Ground Sirloin which is
usually 91-92% lean. It seems to have the best flavor with a
reduced fat content. The leaner ones are made from some other
cut, and just lack flavor and texture. When I fix them with sirloin,
NOBODY complains. The 93% stuff, ground round I believe, I got
complaints from everyone. And Oreida oven fries work well also.
Some have higher fat than others. Regular ones are the lowest.
We eat a lot of chicken, fish, and use a lot of ground turkey. But a
lot of ground turkey has 15% fat. A local sausage maker has
concented to make me a batch of very lean sausage. I think I've
missed sausage the most of anything.
My feeling at this point is that while I'm eating a low fat diet, I'm
not really sacraficing all that much. I don't feel deprived. Well, not
THAT much.

Tony, this is called rhabdomyolisis (sp), and I had the same reaction of
muscle pain and exhaustion when my zocor was at 20 mg per day. I have reduced
it
to 10 mg about 6 years ago and have never had the problem since. Talk to your
doc about this because it can be a very serious problem. Good luck.
