Question for the person that needed *Wires* removed after Bypass

Vancouver Washington Hi I read your post awhile back that said you had to Return for Surgery to have the *Wires* removed from your chest AFTER a LOT of complaining to your doctor. How LONG after Surgery did the wires start to bother you? Was it weeks or several months? How long before the doctor was willing to *Listen* and then finally remove the wires? What were your symptoms? Was there a *Burning* in your chest area. What kind of pain/discomfort? I mean *above and beyond* the Normal kind we have after Bypass surgery. I had Triple Bypass 3 months ago and spent a week in Hospital. Had NO problems at all with the chest incision UNTIL the 2nd month. Did get a huge infection in one of the long leg incisions while still in the hospital and had to return 3 weeks later for another week hospital stay and have Leg surgery. :-(

Hello Karla, I also have burning in my chest along with shoulder and back pain. I can feel the wires in my chest and have wondered about having them removed. My cardiologist thinks I have not given it enough time. My surgery was Oct. 2, 2002 and it sure seems like a long time to me. I am going back to the surgeon next month and ask him about this chest pain. Mine also started about two months after the surgery and when I talked to the surgeons nurse about it then, she told me it was an arthritis like pain that about 10% of the patients get and it could last 18 months to 2 years. Mine does feel like arthritis and seems to be more uncomfortable during damp weather. I take advil for it and get short term relief. The advil is hard on my stomach though. Do let me know if you find out about removing those wires. I can still feel mine and would like to explore that further also. Ann Ray
