Question about meds...
I was started on 40 mg of Lipitor after my surgery. Anyone else put on this high of a dose immediately? My Primary doctor seems to think they should have started me on a lower dose and built up to the 40 mg. I'm having severe neck, rib area, back pain. I don't know if this is just part of the healing (I'm 5 weeks out) or a side effect of the Lipitor. Anyone else suffer with this? Also, I'm on 6.somethin dose of Coreg. My hair is coming out like crazy!! I heard/read somewhere that hair loss is a side effect of beta blockers. Anyone else taking Coreg? Having hair loss? Did it go away after awhile? I think I'm only gonna be on it temporarily. Anyway, hope everyone is well !! Missy
I began taking 40mg of lipitor at about 6 weeks after my heart bypass surgery and I was already taking 20mg so I didn't really have any side effects. I take toprol xl, beta blocker, 25mg and no problems with hair loss so far. Been taking that since October, 2005. The cardiologist that put me on the toprol said I should have been on a beta blocker a long time ago. It does seem to make me lethargic and light headed some days. Also I no longer want to go for my walks or exercise. Just don't have the energy and don't know if its the meds or just getting older. I go back to the doctor in June and I will ask about all that stuff. I would not wait to see a doctor if my hair was falling out. That would really upset me and I would be parking on the docs doorstep until I found out what was going on and what to do about it. Good luck to you. 5 weeks is not very long and remember it takes about a year to get over most of the surgery and some problems are there from now on so be patient. Ann

Check out my group and find out what side effects others are feeling from taking Lipitor or any of the other statins. missy NEVER stop meds or start them because someone on these lists tell u to i started on 40 mgs of zocor im still there and i just past the 4 year mark... I also had tons of hair loss and mine did not replace Drs all said it was from the trama and it stopped on its own no med changes made any difference for me Rose
