Barb I had my quad bypass on 12/29/03 and I still have severe pain in my chest. I take two darvocet four times a day with little relief. I have been to the doctor once a month for the last year and a half. They have run so many tests that I feel i might know as much as some of the interns. The thing with me is that 30 days after my bypass I was back to work and feeling great. I still had small chest pains; but nothing that I could not handle. At about three months they started getting worse and more often. Today they are so bad that I have not worked since 8/17/04. They refuse to give me anything stronger for pain, which IO don't understand. I blame a lot of it on the doctors and hospital. All they cared about was to see how quick they could get me back to work so they could collect their money. When I told my cardiologist this he said that wasn't it. I called him a liar. he just looked at me. Today doctors let insurance companies dictate how long you can stay and what kind of treatment you get. I don't think this is far or right. But, there again I'm one of those who does not take things lying down I have many problems with our medical society and government. Some of you may not agree with my beliefs, but that is part of being an American is the freedom to believe and speak as believe(but that is being tested here in my home town with my youngest son because he told a teacher what he thought of her. He only spoke the truth in my book and that of many other parents. We have been told now twice by the principal and vice-principal that they will believe a teacher any day over a student. So what is this telling our children?) Okay enough. I almost climbed up on my soap box.. I want get into it here. Hang in there. It has to get better. Hershell

Hershell, I had Dressler's syndrome after bypass and it started at about 6 weeks and lasted almost a year. Do you think that might be what you have??? If you have fluid build up in your pericardium apparently you will have the same kind of pain so I think you need to have that ruled out at least my cardio thought so. I hope you have applied for disability with all that pain. Sorry you are having so much trouble. Ann

Ann They have checked me for that and thats not it. When they ran a nerve test they found quite a few of them damaged in my left chest and shoulder from where they went after that vein. I think they have ran every test imaginable. I go back again Tuesday; as is usual every week, to see what the last group of tests showed. I have applied for disability and been denied. I am in the appeals process now. I received ten different forms to fiill out for them yesterday. The only thing is that each of them asks the same questions, but in different orders. I thought the government had a paper reducing act so we don;'t have to cut so many trees yo make paper. Guess not. Hershell
