Operation and statin side effects

Perhaps it is to delicate a subject but no one seems to have raised "constipation" as a side effect though admittedly I have not searched archives. Regards, Warren

Oh geeze Chuck. You brought back a flash back from my days in the hospital. I was so constipated I felt like I was going to explode. For 8 days they were giving me a stool softener and NOTHING. Finally they pulled out the big guns and they had to give me an enema! It was a mixed bag feelings of embarressment, relief and anticipation for the "event" during the procedure. I felt just miserable being so stopped up like that. FINALLY the day before I was discharged I "discharged" some, but not as much as I knew was backed up for over a week. When I got home I began to go more and more but I was afraid with all the straining that my sternum would pop and tried to relax and then strain, relax and then strain. FINALLY... Mt. Vesuvius erupted and boy oh boy did I feel better after that. On occasion I have a couple of days of being constipated but nothing in comparison to those days. I find that if I eat some oatmeal or wheat bran for breakfast it helps keeping me regular. Ed

Not a problem here. At the hospital they were all concerned about it, and I don't think they would have let me go if I hadn't 'gone', but I've still got an almost full bottle of laxatives I bought back then.
