New Drug
Has anyone ever been on the ergot drug Methergine? I am now taking 2, .2MG - 3 times a day. When I read what the PDR said it was used for I freaked out. To be taken by women for 5 days after childbirth so the uterus contracts. I also had to sign a paper saying after being on this for six months I'd go on a one month holiday and have x-rays to make sure I had not developed tumors. Before I started taking this I had a constant migraine of no less than a 3--- on a scale of 0-5. Now I am down to a 1-2. I started these last Thursday. Anyone with info would be greatly welcomed!!!! I took this drug and it was a total nightmare! It is a cousin to LSD and I was hallucinating terribly. I was removed from it immediately. It is a very old drug and only used in very complicated cases of migraine. The reason for the drug "holiday" after 6 months is that it can cause retroperitoneal fibrosis...very life threatening. Even with the 1 month holiday doc's cannot guarantee that this wont happen. I will let Corrine explain in detail exactly what RF, it includes major arteries. Hugs, Jan
