My husband
Hi all!!! I have a couple of concerns about my husband. He has been doing remarkably well the last 4 weeks. He had his triple bypass on January 2nd. He is just about himself......sometimes seeming better than ever. He confided in me that he gets extremely week when he lifts still. Is this normal?? He says he gets so tired and that it takes a lot out of him. His other concern is that his incision in his chest seems "stretchy" The docs have looked at it and have no concerns. It seems like if he lays down or sits for any length of time that it "swells" or "stretches". In his early recovery days everyone said his incision looks beautiful. Otherwise, he does well, walking often, driving, going to rehab, etc. By the way....he is 33. He had a spontaneous dissection....something extremely rare. The docs think it was a birth defect. He is being put in the books. Anyway, looking forward to your responses! Take care all and God Bless..... Lisa Tucker from Southbridge, MA.
Hi Liz, your husband is doing fine. For my husband it has been 2yrs in February for his bypass of 4. The symptoms you describe sound very normal and he will feel those for sometime. It took a good 6 mths for my husband to actually feel like himself again. But after that he's fine. He still gets tired rather quickly, but nothing at all like before his surgery. It sounds as if he moving right along very well. The best for you and your husband. Lynn from Texas
Lisa, I am 9 mos post op quad bypass. I,m 45 yo. To this day, despite an excellent diet and 5x per wk walking, when I exert myself by lifting, etc I feel extremely tired. Not sure whether its the medication or the physical stress, but it does occur. I,ve given in and even take frequent afternoon naps which does help. Regarding stretchy incision, I can only say that I had a minor post op incisional infection which caused some discomfort, but did heal and return to normal. Dave C
