   hi there, man i feel so sorry for you and your mom. my dad was one of the first to have heart surgery like 200 something in like 1972. we all thought that he would never out live my mom. then in the early 90's she got cancer and the cure for it caused her to have congestive heart failure. she beat the cancer but not the other. we lost her in '97. they had been together for 55 years. it was rough on him and still is almost ten years later. some days he is ok then others he says he is ready to leave this world to go see his wife. you just kinda have to keep watch on them and be there for them as much as you can. my dad is 85 now and still drives, although for how long i dont know, he goes to church when he is able and visits his friends other than that i am mostly the only person he sees. all i can really tell you is to be there for her when she needs help and is down, even if it is setting and watching tv or what ever she likes to do. it doesnt really get easy for some people while others bounce right back and learn to live amone the rest of us. good luck and god bless you and yours we are here for you if you need to talk or just express yourself. ron sclem033 <sclem033@... my dad had a quad bypass feb of 2003 his kidneys shut down , he did seven weeks in borgess he has gone down hill ever since he has been on oxygen 24/7 he has compensated cirosses of the liver(not from drinking) from the heart he just got out of the hospital yesterday, now they say he has ascities (fluid in abdomen} they gave him 5 yrs after the surgery its been 3 now they say he does not have much time left he also had congestive heart failure,copd,diabetes, how does a person deal with all this? my parents are high school sweethearts they are celebrating there 40th wedding anniversary april 2nd my mom is beside herself, any help out there
