Migraine (free) Monday

I heard on our local news that Excedrin has proclaimed this Mon as "Migraine free Monday". Yea sure... Don't get me started on the marketing of Excedrin. What a scam. Anyway the newscaster asked the anchor woan if she ever gets Migraines & she laughed & said something like I feel one coming on in about a half hour when this newscast is over... I try not to let it bug me but so many people joke over Migraines. I would never joke (& imagine on TV no less) about a disease or disorder. I am still tempted to email the station. Hope every one is as well as can be expected. ~Lyn~

Hi Lyn, I do agree that the joking about migraines is inappropriate. It reminds me of the new Jenny Craig commercial, where a woman talks about have gained weight (on chemotherapy?), as if the weight gain was a more significant problem than the cancer. Advertising sends powerful messages to people, not only about the product or service being pushed. Many times they do prey upon prejudice. It is a service to everyone when we recognize and confront this. Katherine (feeling better today, but still "fogged in," thanks everyone)

I was just reading the other day in a recent Reader's Digest article about a man that took OTC Excedrin for migraines and too 200 of them a week! The article was about when OTC medications can be deadly. Luckily, he got in and was taken off the Excedrin and put on migraine medications that have helped more than hurt. When my stomach is "trashed," I have found amazing help by taking simple aloe gel obtained through the health food store. It gives almost instant relief. I'm trying to find my book which had ancient remedies and remedies from different cultures for migraine. When I find it, I'll share those ideas. All the empathy to you brave souls suffering with migraine today. I'm thinking about you. Last night, I was thinking about how certain smells trigger migraine, and I somewhere in an aromatherapy book I have recommendations for smells that can help migraine. Has anyone seen that? I also wondered if anyone has tried things like acupuncture, acupressure, or reflexology? Katherine
