migrainal

has anyone ever tried the migrainal nasal spray? What forms does the amerge come in? I've had a severe migraine since Monday and have missed this entire week of school. I've tried all the drugs I have been prescribed in the past and amerge is the last thing to try. thanks, Kelsey ____ "A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you today just the way you are." I haven't tried Amerge yet, but I used Migranal nasal spray for about 18 months. It's used as soon as possible in the very early stages of a migraine. After a year or so, I found that it was making me feel very queasy and if I already felt that way, then it brought me very close to throwing up. All but twice, I resisted, but those two times, I *really* threw up. For the first 12 to 14 months, Migranal seemed to help, but for me, its effectiveness tapered off. Jeff

Migranol makes me throw up....it's very nauseating. SO, my Neurologist gace me Reglan to take with it. Reglan is an Anti-Nausea Medicine...but if you read my other posting, Migranol was USELESS to me -- it did nothing. I almost always wake up wit my migraine, and by then it's too late to use Migranol. But I did use it anyway and it did nothing, except have me "hugging the bowl"! -MyAchyHead List Moderator

The active ingredient is DHE. (IIRC, that's dihdroergotamine.) Jeff

Dear Kelsey! I tried Migranal, but it made me so nauseous that I threw up every time I used it. It also made my pain worse, maybe because of the aggravation of throwing up. Any way, I will NEVER use it again. But this is just my experience! Sue From: KQMN67A@... ( CINDY MCNITT) Subject: migrainal has anyone ever tried the migrainal nasal spray? I have tried migrainal nasal spray, and had some luck, but the price is $60 a dose. I am told it is the same product I get in IV form at the hospital DHE. I am using Maxalt now 6 pills aprox $70, works well in first stages, I seem to need two doses though to get rid of headache. Good luck, hope you have great insurance! Michelle in IA

It make sense Migrainal makes you sick, if it is DHE, the give you anti nausea before the IV in the hospital. I am so glad I didn't get sick! Ugh, so much worse with headache. Michelle again, still in IA
