migrainal...And More Useless Meds...except OXYCONTIN!

I tried them all: Migranol, imitrex, Amerge, in a variety of forms: injectable, pills, nasal spray. The outcome? NONE HELPED WHATSOEVER! My docotr has since told me that I may have "Chronic Daily Headaches", which are not technically Migraines but they feel as if they are. His "cure" for "Chronic Daily Headaches" does not include the above "anti-Migraine" meds. He uses daily pain medicine, kind of like cancer patients who suffer from pain continuosly. I'm on Oxycontin, 20 mg. twice a day., with Cerebrex for breakthru pain (it doesn't help one bit). The oxycontin is Percodan in a "shell" so it's time released over 5 hours. So...I take 2 a day, about 5 hours apart. I feel like next week I'll be needing Narcotics Anonymous at this rate. But what other choices do i have? The oxcontin works LIKE A CHARM!!     Has anyone here tried Gabapentin before? I don't know if that's the trade name or the generic name. My neuro gave me a small prescription for it today. It's to replace the Epival, which I had to stop after very alarming side-effects, which in turn was to replace Sandomigran. I am also to taper off the Nortriptyline if the Gabapentin helps. He said it's similar in some ways to Epival, but he thinks there won't be a problem with the side-effects this time. If anyone's used it, i'd like to know what you think of it. Thanks, Jeff

    Thanks Deb: I start on it tonight. I take one tonight, two tomorrow night, then three, then four and am to stay at that level for several days before phoning the doctor to let him know how it's going. I'll let the group know, too. Any improvement, no matter how small, will be wonderful. I've had exactly two migraine-free days since November 3rd. Jeff
