Mama June
Morning Barbee and Charlie I too have congestive heart failure and problems with retaining fluids. The last time I was in the hospital for fluid retention I also lost 20 pounds in a couple of days, and only after they increased my lasix to 120 mg per day. I can look at fluids and retain it. I have found that by weighing myself every morning that I can keep it under control. Any weigh gain over 2 to 3 pounds and its time for me to check with the doctors. Hi Mama June, Do you have to go back in the hospital each time you start to retain fluid? Barbee
Evening Barbee and Charlie When I find out that I am putting on fluids I take the max of 120 mg of lasix, if I am not retaining fluid I take 40 mg for maintenance of keeping it away or down. I also have another pill that I can take only 1 time a week if I am having problems and it gets rid of the excess fluids. Sort of a jump start. The last time I was in a lot of trouble and could have easily hit the bucket. I felt like I was strangling to death, drowning and couldn't do anything to help myself. One thing that does help if one is not a diabetic is to drink pineapple juice which helps get rid of the fluids. Me being a diabetic cannot drink for this reason. But no I do not go back into the hospital everytime, just when it gets out of control. Mama June Morning Barbee and Charlie I too have congestive heart failure and problems with retaining fluids.
