lung capacity
Hi all, I had a triple bypass in January 06. It's been aqpprox. 15 weeks since. I go to the gym daily and get on the treadmil and i feel fine at the end of a mile or so, but I've noticed thatI get winded at time at home with some exetion and even talking. My doc said that the beta blocker I take can cause this. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience? I'm thinking that I'm expecting too much brathing wise at this point in my recovery--it's only been 15 weeks since my surgery. Any thoughts? Best to all,, jerry

I took a beta blocker for a month after my surgery and really don't know what effects I had from it there was so much going on in my body and head at that time. I was put on toprol xl in October of this year by a cardiologist that thought I should have been on one already and I do feel tired much of the time. I am taking 25 mg and they tell me that is a low dose and I also take diovan hct 160/12.5 so I do wonder if its the combination of medicine or just the new stuff. My blood pressure has been great usually about 110/70 or less so its doing its job and maybe the tired feeling is just something I have to live with for now. I will go for blood work and another ekg in June and will ask again if I'm still feeling tired. Actually the cardio doc who put me on toprol thought it would be increased but I don't think that would be good especially since my blood pressure is now where they want it for a heart patient. I also got a prescription for vytorin in March but I have a 6 month supply of lipitor so I'm going to stay on that until its gone and then try the vytorin after that. The new medications don't seem to always do what they claim but they are really pushed by the pharmacutical companies so I might just wait and see what others have to say about it. My hubby did switch to vytorin and will have new blood work in June also. He has heart disease and has had a stent put in that seems to be doing fine. His cholesterol is has never been as out of control and as mine and he eats lots of fat and stuff that's not supposed to be good for you so go figure. We are all just so different. In reading about the beta blockers I think they might be better medicine that the blood pressure medicine so I realy want my body to accept it and have it work right. Ann
Tripod, Do you take a beta blocker?
