Lipitor The main side effects of this drug are liver damage and muscle weakness. It is important if you are on this medicine that you have regular checks of your liver enzymes, and to report any muscle weakness to your physician immediately. And, most importantly, Lipitor only works when you take it. If you stop, your cholesterol goes back up. Meaning, most likely you'll be on this for a long time. That means a lifelong commitment to monitoring your liver! If you're interested in a natural alternative with no side effects please email me privately. I'm not here to bash Lipitor, I think it is a great scientific advancement and needed by many people. I just think everyone should know all their options and make the choice that is best for them. Anybody hear about this new study done on Lipitor. I heard it on the news two days ago. Apparently they compared Lipitor with Provocol. The results were that Lipitor was more effective in lowering LDL and in some cases Lipitor halted the progression of arteriosclerosis and in some rare cases the blood flow through the arteries actually improved. A dose of 80 mg. of Lipitor was used. What they found was that when LDL was lowered to 70, was when they noticed that the progression of arteriosclerosis was stopped. I don't like to rely completely on news reports for information because they sometimes don't get things right and often do not present the important aspects of a clinical study. So view the information and make your own judgements. Ken

I am very much interested in the pain you get from the medications. Would you tell me how is your pain manifest itself... only in the morning, only went you stand up, when you sit, or walking? How long does you pain last during the day? Where is the pain? The reason I ask this is that I'm taking Pravachol and other drugs and the doc tells me that he doesn't think is the meds because I have been on the medications for a long time ( a year). But I have been getting these pains for a long time. Sometime so severe I can even walk. Also there doesn't appear to have any pain when I sit down or lay down. Anyone having similar conditions? Thanks John
