Laura

wrote~ Hi Laura~ I don't know if you were here to see my post a few weeks back but I went through this with my new HMO allowing only 6 Zomig a month. I wrote to them & to my Dr. After receiving my letter my Dr also wrote to the HMO, & within 2 weeks I heard from HealthSource that they were giving authorization to increase the monthly RX limits. So please give it a try! If Amerge works for you, then have your Dr tell the HMO that is the RX you need & you need a higher quantity. ~Lyn~

Lyn, I was not here to see that post.. thanks for telling me. I will do that. My Doc should be understanding as he gets migraines too. He is not a Nureo, but has helped me with my migraines more then any Nuero ever has, and I've been getting migraines since I was 13. Laura

, Nubain is morphine. It is addictive. I have heard of one person on another list who's doctor gave them Nubain/Phenegran and syringes to administer at home. If you explain your lack of transportation and the time it takes to get to the office the doctor might do the same for you. Maybe you and your doctor could sign a narcotic contract. Thus, both parties know exactly what is expected of them. Good Luck to you, Darling. I hope you find relief soon! Katrina

Nubaine is not morphine...they are totally different drugs. Nubaine is a narcotic agonist/antagonist and morphine is a straight agonist opiod. According to my leaflet that came with the vial, it reads: Nubaine has been shown to have a low abuse potential. When compared with drugs which are not mixed agonist/antagonists, it has been reported that nalbuphine's potential for abuse would be less than that of codeine. Hope that helps a little Laura, I do hope that your Doc is open minded enough to at least look at his PDR and take a look-see. There is nothing worse than traveling a long way, especially in this heat...trying to find a driver etc, just to get a shot. Nubain comes in a vial of 10mg, 10 doses or 20mg, 10 doses in vial depending on what you usually get. Phenergan however comes in these tiny ampules that are a pain to draw up into the syringe. I must take the phenergan however because the nubain by itself is very nauseating. I tried to take phenergan by mouth before injecting the nubaine but it just doesn't work like the injectible. That phenergan really burns...ouch! Good luck to you. Hugs from Jan

, Sorry, Nubain is not morphine, but is an opiod (partial agonist). Katrina

, I have only heard about pain contracts. There is a contract drawn up between your doctor and you that they will prescribe this or that and you will take it as ordered unless you contact the doctor. You must also tell all other doctors what you are taking and some other stuff. I'll have to get on another list and ask someone who has signed such a contract. I think the contract lets you and the doctor breath easy because it tells exactly what is expected of each of you. Maybe someone else on this list knows more? Katrina
