In trouble again

Yesterday I went up to watch them tear down my old high school that was built in 1866. My dad, me and 2 of my kids graudated from there. It has set abandoned for 15 years and was sold 3 times. It was sold to a demolition Co. to make way for a new Kroger Store. When it was half down I spotted an old stained glass window that was in my old Band room. I hoped the fence and got the forman that I knew. He got his crew to help me remove the window and bring it home. I now have a 10ftX 15ft stained glass window in my gurage. The city of Fostoria found out what I did and they want it back. The Mayor, city council and the historical socity are all on my ass. They are going to charge me with trespassing and theft. The school does not belong to the city anymore. It belongs to the demolition Co. who gave it to me. The Demo Co. lawyer is helping me keep it. If the city wanted it so bad why dident they take it out before it was sold. The Mayor wants to auction it off to buy books for the school. What should I do gang. The court will settle this. I risked my life to get the dam thing.I will NOT let some outsider get it that has no ties with my school. Our Mayor is from California and has no ties to our school Steve Y

Steve, If the demolition company owns the building then I would think no one else but you has a leg to stand on, so to speak. They gave it to you. The city had no ties to it at all. I love stain glass and work with stain glass as a hobby. If you think of hanging it, have it checked out by a stain glass artist to make sure it is secure to hang. Depending on how old it is, you may need to have the solder and grouting touched up. You did good Steve to have saved something so wonderful, I am proud of you. Barbee
