I'm set to have surgery this wednsday

Hi All, I went for a second opinion up in sarasota and was told essentially the same thing. My LAD is 100% blocked and I need to get this taken care of or it will get worse. I have NO symptoms and have had no symptoms which is one reason why I've questione having to have this done. I'm told that I am having ( in a nutshell) a single bypass, mammary to LAD, off pump surgery. I'm also told that this is a simple bypass surgery and because of my age ( I just turned 50) and health in general that I should come thru "perfectly". The doctor says 3-4 days in the hospital, and 4-6 weeks in recovery after which I can start to drive again etc. He says I might even see MORE energy than what I'm used to after a period of time. I haven't been able to go back thru so many posts here to get a brief of peoples experiences with this. Despite having comcast net connections, it really does take a great deal of time to go thru this forum in trying to find how everyone has done by and large with this surgery. I'm sorry, but can some of you all tell me if what the doctor is telling me is "pie in the sky"? Thank you all in advance. Rgrds Tom

tom it sounds exactly like what they told me. you are younger than i so yoou should bounce back nice. it took me a little longer than they said but i am back 15mos. except for all my stamina. dont do like me and try to hurry everything too much. just go with the flow and take it in steps and not leaps lol. there will be some discomfort and maybe experimenting with meds. but it will come back. i am finally able to play 3 sets of tennis. didnt think it would come but it has. take care and good health. tom tpilitowski <tpilitowski@... Bill, I saw this cuff procedure in a chart photo on my gallbladder surgeon's wall. It was the first time I'd even heard of it until you just mentioned it. It was part of his wall art; his other photo was the standard one of our guts that most docs have. Connie Bill Haley <billhaley99@... There is a procedure involving blood pressure like cuffs fastened in various places around your legs that has been shown to further the development of collaterals. The cuffs are tied to a computer which takes in information on the beating of the art and inflates and deflates these cuffs in a fashion that forces more blood back to the heart from the legs when the heart is at rest. This helps create more collaterals. Connie Turner
