Hi...New Member

Hi-I just joined and thought I'd jump right in. My name is Jenn and I live in WV. My mom had quadruple bypass surgery Friday the 7th. It was a complete shock-she was going to have a hysterectomy and her gp told her he would not ok it until she took a stress test. It came back abnormal and they did an ECG and when that came back they then scheduled a cath on Thursday the 6th. After starting the cath the doc decided an emergency bypass was needed. She had 5 blockages total but only 4 needed bypassed. My mom is 54 and a diabetic-on insulin for at least 10 years. She was doing great until today. Her blood pressure will not stay up and the doc put her on a pacemaker and upped her dopamine, took her off blood pressure meds and started her back on a more concentrated oxygen. He said if her bp is still low tomorrow she will go back in ICU but he feels that things will be ok and that really she should be doing great. Does anyone have any experience with being put on a pacemaker as a temporary measure to elevate bp? This is a little scary because they were talking about her going home Wednesday. TIA, Jenn in WV
