Hello, this is the first time I have been here. I had a triple bypass on April 5. I think I just wanted to talk to someone who is experiencing the same thing . This surgery has made me very unhappy, when by all accounts I should be grateful and happy that i am alive. Does anyone else have these kinds of feelings, or am I the exception? Hi Janet, You came to the right place ! My FAVORITE single reference for heart surgery is The Heart Surgery Handbook, by J. Jude, M.D., et al. It has been revised and republished as Coping With Heart Surgery and Bypassing Depression and is still in publication. One of the points mentioned is that 26% of Heart Surgery patients experience depression if untreated, but that number is reduced to 6% with counciling and medication.
