Hi Everyone...I am new here and in need of advise. :)

Hi everybody, My Father just had a quadruple bypass 1 week ago today. I have joined this group in hopes to help him. He is not one to go to support groups and he doesn't use the internet so I am hoping to get info I can print off and let him read. My Dad has become very very depressed. His mind is on the pain all the time and he is very much NOT himself. He has always been a very very active person and he didn't even have syptoms of problems....he was just blessed and they happened to catch it. I wondered if you could help me know what I could do and what other family members could do to help AND I wondered if you would be willing to email me with your stories and how you have made it through....I would like to print them off so my wonderful Father will not feel "so alone" (his words). Thank You so very much!!!!! Brenda brendacutehair@...

At only 1 week he's allowed to 'feel the pain'! What's important is that as time goes on he try his best to recover. That means walking, mostly, for several weeks. I just walked a path around the condo as it was way too hot outside at the time. At 1 week mostly I just wished someone was there to make lunch for me. You don't _even_ want to hear about the day I dropped a Cheerio on the floor - it would have been WAY too painful to go down and get it so I really freaked out. But the other side of that coin is 'enabling'. It was good for me to have to do these things for myself.
