Hello. New here
Hi all. I am the daughter of a 50+ yr old man who had a heart attack in January and ended up having qudruple bypass in late January. Since his surgery, we have seen changes in his overall personality and other areas of life. He had to quit smoking after probably 40 yrs of doing it. It was pretty "easy" for him, I guess, since he was so drugged for weeks after the surgery that he slept through all the withdrawl. He doesn't seem to even want to go back to it, which is good. I was just curious to see if any of you who have had the surgery had a drastic change in your taste buds, like foods you once loved you don't like anymore. Or food that tastes good one day doesn't taste good the next? This was the story of my dad for awhile after the surgery. He doesn't seem to have the "one day yummy, next day yucky" thing as much anymore, but it was crazy for us and him trying to find something he would eat. Overall, I am happy with where my dad is now. He eats healthier, he quit smoking, and has learned he needs to take better care of himself and let us know what is going on with him. It just sucks seeing him still looking so weak. My dad had worked steadily from the time he graduated high school, and when the factory closed, he went to school to learn a new trade. He had just graduated in mid-December, only to have the heart attack within 4 weeks. Sorry this was kinda long. Any advice or personal experiences with the taste bud issue would be nice. Thanks!
