Hello, I am new here
It seems like you need to be seeing your cardiologist now and not wait until May. You should be feeling better. Ann

Marilyn, Enjoyed your post as someone who is further down the line than I am. Congratulations on being chosen to speak as a survivor for the Heart Association ball. That's quite an honor and hope you find that red dress. From what I can see, you're so right in that daily we get a reminder of this surgery through the plague of discomforts and changing mental states. How wonderful and how ideal to have your Dr. working with your therapist. I'm finding that this is what I need also. I agree also with your statement on how the medications affect the mental and physical state. You would think any conscientious Dr. would want to work with their patients and any other professionals in the healing process, but I have the feeling that it is not easy to find that kind of relationship. Take Care, Lor Hi Kim: I too had bypass 9 months ago and am still plagued with a number of discomforts and I have passed them off as part of the healing process. However, my cardiologist has told me if I don't think things seem quite right to call him right away or go to the ER (which I have done). We are all constantly reminded of our event daily but to what degree varies. For me, I get a tingling sensation in my right leg from the grafting, my left chest is numb and will occasionally feel like the titanium wires are sticking into me inside, left arm weakness and yes, the ever present feeling of either anxiety or depression. I am working with a professional counsellor connected with my primary care physician so they are able to monitor my status. I believe all the medication I am taking contributes to my mental and physical state. I wanted to let the group know that I have been chosen by the American Association of Maryland to participate in the Annual Heart Ball in Columbia as a "survivor". What this means is telling my story and help bring awareness of heart disease in women to the community. Needless to say, I am delighted and hope to find "a RED DRESS" to wear!!! To everyone, keep up the good work. In this group, we all understand the magnitude of the event and how important it is to hear and express our concerns and successes. Marilyn
Kim, Glad you are calling your doc today. Hope you get in real quick. Ann
It will probably not be like it was before but it needs to be just as good or better. Even if the pain takes time to go away, you need to know what is causing it. Once you know then it will be easier to put up with it. On the eating, I still eat what I like just in smaller amounts. Fortunately I like fish and don't care much about sweets so that helps with the diet stuff. Giving up salt has really been hard for me. I put salt on everything I eat so its been a real challenge to stop salting my food. I use very little now when I cook but I must say, eating out sure taste good now as I think its much saltier than what I fix. ann
