Happy Anniversary Number 205

My 1 year anniversary was in February-sure glad to be around to wish everyone a happy anniversary! I'm celebrating mine by joining a group that visits heart patients the day before their surgeries. I don't know how much help I can give, but I know I was happy just to talk with someone who had been through the procedure. Pam S. in Michigan

Pam S. in Michigan Pam, I have been part of a visitation group for past 2 years at Robert Woods Johnson hospital in NJ. You should find it very rewarding. As one patient told me "its one thing to hear it from the DR or nurse and another to hear from someone who has been there." I am a veteran of 2 CABG's and will be going on 12th year. Have been a couple of bumps in the road but hell I am 64 years old and cycle 5,000 miles a year and play a lot of golf so who has it better. I did a Seattle to San Diego tour in 99 and had dinner with a women I met on the Internet. Sounds a little suspicious, her name is Ann and she is a terrific nurse and person. Congratulations on your anniversary and if you have any questions regarding visitations feel free to e-mail me. Harry K

I can't believe that it has been 18 months since you were here - seems like yesterday! Congrats to everyone celebrating anniversaries of their surgeries. I think for anyone recovering it is important to note the milestones - especially to see how far you've come since surgery day. Bravo to those of you who have made some important changes in your health habits as a result of your experiences. I have been a bit quiet on this list for awhile - not that I don't enjoy being with you all - just that life is a bit busy with 2 grade schoolers! Besides you all always hold your own whether I'm here or not. Take care, Ann Ann McCrea, RN Health Education/Disease Prevention
