Drug Allergic Reaction

Well, I called my cardiologist and reported that there was no change in the cough with taking the extra Lasix. He called this afternoon to say now that maybe I have been having a reaction to one of my medications. He suggested that I stop the Vasotec and report in again on Monday. Now we are talking. Of course, I could be wrong too. I have been wrong before and I will be wrong again, just ask my husband. I had my exercise levels increased today in rehab and did pretty good. I cannot believe I am now six weeks post-op. Well, that's all for now. Take care and have a good weekend. Barb p.s. I have not heard about or had any experience with flax oil. Hope you can get it figured out.

Boss Lady's Cough I had a nasty tickle that resulted in an uncontrolable cough for several weeks after my CABG a few years ago. Talking made it even worse. Powerful cough suppressants helped some but time was the best remedy and eventually it did go away. After my recent Valve Replacement surgery, I again developed a cough that was aggrivated by talking but fortunately it wasn't as persistent and has mostly subsided after a couple of weeks. My guess is something or some nerve around my diaphram was irritated by the surgery. 'AL'

Coughing can be a side effect of ace inhibitors (e.g. vasotec). I myself do not experience this from this drug. Your doctor , in my view, is correct in trying to rule the vasotec in/out as the culprit. Of course you will have to monitor your b.p. and perhaps change drugs. Ace inhibitors , besides lowering blood pressure, have been found recently to be of benefit to the interior health of the arteries (specifically, the epithelium, I believe). - something eslse to consider. Do stay on top of it all! Regards, Harold
