connie Turner <connieque@s... switching to a PPO. I'm now on HMO, and I think that's why all the delays. Not necessarily. Husband was on HMO, retired 6/30/04 and switched to PPO. Had CABG-4 7/6/04. And frankly with PPO we still have a Hell of atime getting doctor's appointments and info. May sadly be the state of medicine in the US unless of course you are Bill Clinton. Husband had nuclear stress test 11/1 - no results yet. Had blood work 11/5 - (first time since CABG) and yesterday he receives a note that says Cholesterol 99, "normal CHC, BMP, Heptic func and Thyroid". He calls (is taking 20mg Lipitor) and asks doc's office is it total cholesterol, bad chol or what and they couldn't tell him, nurse was to call back and never did... Now he has anxiety - if this is total cholesterol we may be doing great, if LDL not great since before CABG LDL was between 100-130. What is the ratio? And if we aren't doing great why are we not eating butter, cheese and meat and so much soy????

Food for thought. It may not make a difference to change insurance plans then. I think that the PPO will cost us a lot more. May not want to bother. Yes, everyone in my family was upset with the treatment I received vs what old Bill got. rjudithma <rjudith@... connie Turner <connieque@s... switching to a PPO. <rjudith@c... Cholesterol 99, .." Great news - 28 hours after calling doc's office - nurse calls back and says 99 is total cholesterol, 45 is ldl and 41 hdl When he had surgery last July ldl was 131 and hdl 32. so to us this makes the diet modifications worthwhile because although he takes 20 lipitor, I do not think that alone could make this much of a drop. So diet can make a difference. Also watching salt has eliminated blood pressure meds.

Hope this helps and if not contact me again. Chris
