C&B, Thank you for providing the recipes this past week. I am new to the group and was hoping to find that type of support/informatin here. It sounds like you have an active group of folks. Since the first few messages I received from this group were jokes, I was wondering what the group was all about. So I sent a joke I thought everyone could enjoy. I did not intend to add fuel to the fire. I agree, jokes can be so hurtful and can cause conflict so they are not worth the bother. And as mentioned earlier there are online groups that are for joke telling. I came here hoping for guidance and support. To some I'm sure; this is not making any sense, but it is what it is. Ruth, You will get info and support here. And you did not add fuel to the flame by telling a joke. We do have occasional flareups, but they dissolve quickly. Ask any question you like, and someone will come along that can give you the benefit of their experience on the subject or help you find it. The jokes are just an added part of keeping contact when technical posts are drying up; just a way to reach out with a smile when we are not having to talk about the awfulness of what we've all been through. It takes our mind off that, and puts a smile on our face and hearts. Connie Ruth Spae <nananj14elm@... C&B, Thank you for providing the recipes this past week. Thanks for the responce Connie. My husband is recovering from open heart surg and Cardic Failure. His heart problem was discovered during preadmission testing for a hip surg that he still needs to have done. While in hospital for the open heart surg, he developed lung infection that causes an aspiration of his COPD. We was not able to take the prescribed route to recovery of walking and taking the stairs, he is still flat on his back 75% of the time, his CABG X 5 was on Jan. 18 2005. Cardic Failure dx on 29th of January. He would not go to the doctors for a follow-up until finally last week we made our way out of the house to his cardioligist and aslo his PCP. Our next step is to get him to the local hospital for blood work. God its been a long 2 months. I've been home with him since the discharge on Feb 4th, under the FML act. Well that was a mouth full... Ruth NJ He also has diabetes so the recipes are helpful! connie Turner <connieque@... Ruth, You will get info and support here. Ruth, Thank goodness they discovered his heart problem because of the preadmission tests! Had they not, the damage could have been much worse. Hopefully, things will continue to progress for him for his heart, and he can get the hip surgery scheduled soon. It sounds like he's very fortunate to have you beside him throughout this ordeal. Any time you need to vent...and you will :0).....you have a place to do so here! Take care, Connie Ruth Spae <nananj14elm@... Thanks for the responce Connie. Bill, That's pretty funny! LOL Connie Bill Haley <billhaley99@... P.S. One day in a swimming pool, a stranger noticed my chest scar and asked what it was from. I told her that I had had two cabbages and she looked at me and said, "You must be really gassy."

Rita, So sorry to hear that you too are under the weather! Rest! And maybe you should call your doctor and get in? Keep us updated when you are up to it. Hello Ruth, Welcome to the by-pass group. I am so sorry it has taken this long to get back with you. We had some family from Texas visit with us. It was the first time they have been able to visit since Charlie got sick. So we have been away from the computer enjoying some relaxing family time. I am so glad that you found this group. My husband Charlie is the one who had by-pass. He does not mess with the computer so I joined the list for both of us. When Charlie got so sick, I just did not know where to turn for answers. I already had my own survivors list but none of them had experienced by-pass. Everyone here helped so much with suggestions and their experiences. All I did was ask questions and always got answers, you will too. So just ask away, anything you have fears, questions, or concerns about. Also, feel free to vent here too. It has been nice to see that people feel like joking. It means they have their minds off of their pain and fears for a few minutes. Laughter is very important to people who are sick, I feel anyway. Hugs, Barbee
