Debra low fat diet
Debra, I didn't receive any specific diet either. I'm at work so I can't ask my wife the exact thing you look at on the content label on the food product. So I'll tell you what I think, I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure I'm right about this, but I'll give you a more complete response this evening when I can talk to the real boss of the family. :) Of course it's a given that fresh veggies and fruit are low in fat so no need to elaborate anymore here, unless someone has something I missed or can add to. I'll try to concentrate on manufactured foods. First, look at total calories and the calories from fat and if the % of calories from fat is greater than 30%, I don't really consider it low fat. The low the percent the less fat content. I try to stick to 30%, but really prefer 20% or less and there are lots of food out there at that content. This is not a hard and fast rule because sometimes I do creep up to 50% and at times just say the heck with it and eat it regardless of the Calories from fat content. Also look for labels that say low fat, that doesn't automatically make it real low fat, so you still have to read the label contents. Having a little depression, causes me to become a little anal at times (get on one track until I'm done), so you've given me a mission. This evening when I finish my walk, I'll go thru my frig and pantry and write down the name of food products I eat with the % of fat with it. This may help others and together we may come up with a good list of foods for everyone. Hope this helps, And I'll elaborate more this evening. Rus
