Continued Chest pains

Today I was taken back into the ER for more chest pains, 16 days out from the triple bypass. Doctors could not locate anything and sent me home, with orders to return if something is wrong. Anyone else have this happen? Is it normal?

I had something similar. Back pain was severe and pains started going down my left arm about 2months after 4x. I was in the hospital for 3-4 days and everything checked out. They did do a cath again. The dr. changed my meds. About 9 months out at work I started getting them again. Went to hospital. Blood work showed enzymens and they said was a small heart attach. Another cath showed 2 more blockages. One was a graft. They put 2 stents in. To give you the honest truth I have back pain and kinda like a soreness in my chest, especially my breast, and more than a few times I thought of going in the er. To go or not to go, that is the question :). I think Im as good as Im gonna get. I wish you well.

Call your surgeon and your cardiologist. It may be post-surgical pain, but maybe not. I had recurring pain exactly like the pain I had before my bypass, and went to ER 3 times. They said it was from stress, even after CAT scan and stress test. Went to my doctor, he called ambulance to take me to another hospital. Stayed in ER for 24 hours, got mad, told them to get the IV out because I was going to the competition (Harvard Med School hospital vs. U Mass Med School hospital)for a heart cath. That got the Harvard docs going! An hour later, having cardiac cath, discovered blockage (70-something %)in one of bypasses, put in stent. I knew something was very wrong because the pain was exactly like what had happened before my 2x CABG. It was severe, and ran down my left arm. Upshot: If I think something is wrong, no matter what the docs say, in the future I will insist on another heart cath. HTH, Aileen
