Co enzyme Q10 & prices
Hi, I have been on Q10 for 7+ years taking 50mg per day. Since discharge from hospital I have been taking 100mg per day. After the age of 50 there is a depletion in Q10 in body especially in people with heart conditions. Many gum problems and loose teeth are caused by lack of Q10. Sports medicine Drs recommend doses from 50mg up to 500mg depending on weight ,age, activity etc. A quick test to check if Q10 helps heart etc is to take pulse and then exercise on treadmill, exercise bike, stepper, or just use step exercise for 10 minutes. Take pulse immediately-then take 60mg of Q10 and repeat exercise and take pulse again. Most people have reduced pulse. If you can have someone take BP before, during and after exercise this will also be a guide. In Australia 50mg cost between $AUD28 and $AUD 48. There is some outlandish ones priced around $AUD70. There are hundreds of websites-excluding ones selling Q10- showing value in heart, chronic fatigue and other illness's. Some hospitals -even in USA are recommending for operation recovery including bypass. Perhaps you can find more info by searching sports medicine pages. Regards from Australia Warren
Warren, Good for You!!! I have been taking CoQ10 (25 mg) starting about a month post op my CABG and have been on it ever since, except for about a 2 week period when I ran out of it and just never found the time to get a refill. Slowly over those two weeks or so I noticed that I was beginning to feel lethargic and breathless. Having Congestive Heart Failure this was not good. When I realized that it must be the lack of CoQ10 supplementation I drove down and bought a higher dose at 150 mg immediately for $15US. The next day I felt some improvement and was not as breathless. Within a few days I felt like my old self again. I have also seen on a web site that the recommended dosage for an adult for optimum cardiac care is 1 mg for every pound of weight. A 150 pound person should take 150 mg. I am true believer in CoQ10 and have done loads of research about it on the web and see that I may never go another day without taking it at 150 mg or more. Thanks for your testing procedures you included with your post. I will surely use it for my own needs here in Oregon. I hope you take part in our newest survey on the group's site. G'Day Mate, Ed
