Carotid artery plus
I talked with a guy at my execise facility who is going in for surgery to clear a 90% blockage in his carotid artery. I asked him what was going to be done and he wasn't sure. Mine is 50% blocked so I have a personal interest in this. I expect he will survive so I should have a first hand account in the next couple of weeks. That brings up the subject of specificty. I wonder if the juglar vein ever gets blocked. Wouldn't surprise me to find the it doesn't. Until recently science hasn't recognized the degree of specificity built into cells. A blood vessel cell is a blood vessel cell. A liver cell is a liver cell. BS. Look at function. If there is a difference in function there will be a difference in how a cell is constituted. And I mean at the molecular level. I've heard complaints from the investment community that the biotechnology revolution has fizzled. If I were a profane person I'd tell them where to shove their fizzle. These people think you go from a garage in the back yard to a commercial product in a year. That may be true in electronics but it is not true in biology. The revoulution in biology (treatment of disease) is on track. Let's hope we live long enough to take advantage of it. Pat
