Nina,
I cannot believe that your husband was fired for his heart murmur. It may be legal in Texas but it may be illegal under Federal Law. I would check with a really good employment lawyer.
I had a 5x bypass on Feb. 11, 2004. I am going back to work next week starting 1/2 days. However, I have a sit down job. Rehab is the thing to do. I go 3 days a week. Walk on the tread mill and ride the excerise bike, get my blood pressure taken about 3 or 4 times. The goal is to work up to doing 35 to 40 minutes of excerise per day.Every day I feel better.
I still have pain from surgery, my doc said that I could take up to 6 months for all of the pain to go away. Some have said in this group to plan on a year for full recovery, I can believe that. Do what the doctor says. Don't over do. Healing takes a long time.
I wish you and your family the best of luck. God bless and keep you always.
Dan
