boredom sinking in

I'm a 2x cabg patient 3 months out now. I also have CHF. I'm feeling ok but the mind wants more activity than the body can deliver. One of my reasons for joining this group is to find out how others pass the time. any suggestions appreciated. Larry

Larry, If and when I get to a similar stage, I plan on honing my artistic skills (drawing, painting, etc.). Reading and writing might come into play as well. Larry Hello Larry, I'm glad to hear that you desire more (mental) activity. That demonstrates a very positive attitude. The first thing I would suggest is to ask your Primary Care Physician and Cardiologist about what level of exercise you CAN do and then begin an exercise program. Talk with your doctors about managing your CHF. MOST heart patients can undertake some sort of walking program. Walking every day (or almost) is the best way to restore your energy and stamina. I highly recommend Cardiac Rehab if your insurance will cover it. If not, visit a class, watch what the patients are doing, and see if a friendly nurse will offer you some printed material showing recommended exercises. Hobbies are a good way to keep the mind alert and active. Researching topics of interest (e.g. heart disease and recovery) on the internet or at your public library are interesting pursuits. Does your community have a Senior Center? These facilities have several activities for seniors that provide mental and social stimulation. 'AL'
