aromatherapy

Although it doesn't alleviate the migraine, I often burn Lavender and Geranium oil, when I have one. It's one of the few smells I can put up with then. Lavender oil is meant to relax you. mairin

When I was very ill when pregnant with twins, I used a bath oil with lavender, peppermint and clary sage. I don't recall there being lemonbalm. It was soooo relaxing, and refreshing. I hardly got a migraine when I was pregnant either. mairin

After years of not shaving, I'm "clean" again, along with my usual favorite aftershave: Lilac Vegetal. I gotta wonder if that's helping with my headaches...

My daughter was seeing a very considerate young man who when he heard of my troubles with migraines drove over 30 miles out of town to an herb farm to get some help for me. He consulted with the grower/herbalist and brought back a rosemary plant and essential oil with rosemary, mint and I think eucalyptus and some other stuff in it. I was very touched that he went to all this trouble for me. The oil was very pleasant and relaxing but did not cure any headaches. Some people really do care and have a natural empathy, I've found. They are just very few and far between. Just thought I'd share this. Linda

I know that scents trigger migraines, but lately I've resorted to aromatherapy because nothing seems to help my pain, and I feel like I'm taking too many drugs. I've found some candles by Bath & Body Works that actually help (or maybe its in my head). One of them smells like eucalyptus & mint and is supposed to help relieve stress. The other is a lavender/vanilla blend. I use light those before I go to sleep. They're helpful, too, because i don't hav to have the light on, which I'm sensitive to. They work for me, maybe they'll work for some of you. The scents aren't overpowering, just nice and subtle. They also have the scents in a spray form, just incase you're sensitive to candles. Let me know if they work for you. Hope everyone is pain-free today! xoxoxo- Clarissa
