After Surgery
June 1st 2004 is when I had a tripple bypass plus an aortic valve replacement. All is going well and I seem to have more stamina and energy. My question is that at night I can feel my heart aggresively pumping and also hear the pulses in my ears. I would like to know if this is the norm or should I be a concerned?. Any help would be appreciated and hopefully put my mind at ease
Well, since you asked... Yes, I think you're mistaken. I'd want that angio RIGHT AWAY so you can find out what's going on in there. Somehow you're twisting your risk factors CHF and diabetes 180 degrees and saying they're an indicator you should do nothing. I gotta disagree. FWIW, this type of medicine has made great strides since your last op 20 years ago.
Snap2, I would say that if you feel the docs are milking you for a angiogram and possibly a CABG then you should tell them no. You could get another opinion also. The final analysis is that you are the employer here and if you don't want what they have to offer then politely decline to take part in it! You either have confidence in the doctor and what he feels is the best treatment for you or blow it off. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. Chris << I want some feedback about my perception that cardiologists unconsiously run heart mills. I feel like I am being milked like a cow in the line. I had a pain in my right jaw and around my ear.A doctor said I was having a heart attack. I was given a echocardiogram and EKG. Now I am seen by a cardiologist, he says yep you had a heart attack. He says I need an angiogram catherization. So I get a different cardiologist. He says right up front I need a bypass operation and a valve repair. And he does a Thallium stress test. Now he says I need the angiogram catherization first then the surgery. I feel I am being milked. I have no pain.... No pressure. no symptoms except health insurance. I don't want an invasive angio or the surgery. I am 73 with chf and diabetes had both since 1984. so the risks of angio as well as the bypass / valve repair are greater than the risk of doing nothing. I am on Coreg and feel fine. But I could be having another secret heart attack only my wallet knows for sure. What is your opinion folks ?? Am I way off base? I have had a bypass 20 years ago.
HiAnn: I understand exactlly how you feel. Im a bit over a year since 4x. Some days are better than others but Im not back to my old self. I believe I never will be. The aches and pains come and go. The backache is with me every day, just depends on the intensity. And thats with meds. But Im alive to enjoy what I can......hugzzzzzzzzz Stannis
